Death in Venice

Exhausted by illness, Vrančić had no strength to return to Rome. Death found him in Venice. He died on January 20, 1617, in the house of Jerome Jubete, priest of the parish church of S. Provolo, in the area of Castello.

The eight-page legacy, written by Vrančić’s own hand only two years before his death, is now in the State Archives of Rijeka. The legacy was kept for years by the noble family Draganić-Vrančić from Pirovac, and in 2010 Vesna pl. Draganić Vrus decided to give valuable archival material kept for centuries to the Archives and the Pirovac Municipality.
