18th August 1450 – Born in Split. Father, Nikola Marulić, mother Dobrica, nee Obirtić, or Alberti. Both members of distinguished noble families. Marko the eldest of six sons and two daughters. The surname also occurs as Pečenić, Pecinić or Picinić, but in the fifteenth century the family took the surname Marulus or De Marulis.
