“By publishing Historiographic fragments by Antun Vrančić, the City library of Juraj Šižgorić from Šibenik presents a valuable testimony to the historiographic work of this famous humanist and church prelate from Šibenik. Living in turbulent historic period, Vrančić was a witness or a participant of events which will mark a turning point for late-Renaissance Europe and divided Croatian states in territorial, political and religious sense. In such circumstances, historiography as an active component of the Renaissance studia humanitatis was an ideal platform for historiographic arguments and reflections on current events, in which we see the contribution of Vrančić’s historical writings.”
